On August 17, quilts were delivered to the Crawford Child Advocacy Center in Fort Collins by Christie, Karen, and Jacque. Crawford is a new Firehouse Quilts client that provides specialized forensic services to children who have experienced abuse, trafficking, or domestic violence. A small quilting group from South Sub Church in Littleton has graciously volunteered to donate quilts to Firehouse Quilts. The quilters have been working together at the church for more than 40 years and include a second-generation quilter. Carol C., the group leader, reached out to Firehouse Quilts because they had extra quilts they wanted to find homes for. The group currently donates quilts to people who were previously incarcerated and are establishing new homes, as well

Barbara C. recently delivered 15 beautiful FHQ quilts to Ellen, Development Director of the Women's Bean Project (WBP). These quilts will be distributed to women as they graduate from the WBP training program. The WBP graduates about 60 women each year, women who have developed skills that will enable them to secure viable employment. The Child Advocates - Denver CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) office recently hosted its annual Back-to-School Backpack Event at the Alma Recreation Center. On July 15, we welcomed 67 volunteers who turned in an amazing 193 quilts, 39 pillowcases, 19 bags, 14 crocheted afghans, 6 stuffed animals, 2 bibs, 11 burp cloths, and 100 crocheted baby hats that will soon bring comfort to children, families, and others in need across Colorado. During one delivery, Barbara C. met Tim, the husband of patient Kassi. As he looked over the quilts, he was curious about their purpose. Fifty-seven talented and generous women gathered at Above and Beyond on May 20 to support Firehouse Quilts and our mission. Together, they turned in an incredible 220 quilts, bringing our year-to-date total to 1,049 quilts. What an amazing accomplishment! The Mountain Resource Center in Conifer provides essential services that empower people to thrive in surrounding mountain communities. There is help for families faced with losing their home, in need of food, struggling with mental health problems, and Veterans in need of assistance. The Arapahoe County Adoption agency works to connect children with loving and permanent families. The children are placed in homes that will provide lifelong care and stability. A new State Bill was recently passed that requires Arapahoe County to finalize adoptions by July. While at their adoption hearings, the children can personally pick out a quilt donated by Firehouse Quilts on this special day.
