Athmar Park Children Receive Quilts at Toy Story Movie
Athmar Park is a neighborhood consisting of more than 100 square blocks, bordered by Alameda, West Mississippi, the South Platte River, and West Federal. The neighborhood is managed by a volunteer nonprofit board that focuses on environmental improvements. Most residents are working-class families and are 14.1% of the population who live below the federal poverty line.
The board supports the children of Athmar Park by hosting a spring picnic, bike rodeo, fall movie night, and math and leadership academies. Michelle B. inquired about receiving quilts for the movie night.
The movie Toy Story was shown outdoors on August 22nd in one of the local parks, and the children were thrilled to receive their own quilts to snuggle with during the movie.
