About Us

Firehouse Quilts is a 501(c)(3) non-profit volunteer group founded in 2003 to make and donate quilts to children/patients in crisis.

Each year we donate over 1,500 snuggle quilts to those who have suffered accidents, house fires, domestic or sexual violence, and homelessness.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is eligible to receive your quilts?
Any fire department or county social service organization in the state of Colorado is eligible to receive quilts. To request quilts for your organization, contact us.

Do you charge for the quilts?
No, there is no monetary charge for the quilts. They are donated in hopes that they will bring a sense of comfort in a difficult time. We do ask for the opportunity to take a picture when our FHQ volunteers deliver the quilts. These pictures are used in our blog posts and on Facebook.

Do you accept donations?
Yes! We accept monetary donations, fabric donations, and donations of rotary blades and cotton thread. Learn more at our donate page.

What size quilts do you accept?
We accept many quilt sizes.  The most common are 45″ x 45″ snuggle quilts, 36″ x 36″ small quilts, 50″ x 70″ lap quilts, 40″ x 50″ wheelchair quilts, and twin bed quilts. These measurements do not need to be exact.  Please, no queen or king size quilts.

Do I have to come to a Sew Day to participate?
No! You can sew your quilts at home and donate them through the mail or on a collection day. To be notified about collection days, sign up for our Sew Day email list.
