Firehouse Quilts of Colorado News

It takes many volunteers, busy hands, and humming sewing machines to create the large number of quilts and special items produced each month for Firehouse Quilts. At our February sew day, 190 quilts were turned in, bringing our 2026 total to 444 quilts already. We are so grateful for the dedication of our members. Sew days are more than just productive. Our January 21 sew day marked the first sew day of 2026, and it set the tone for an incredible year ahead. We were thrilled to welcome a record-breaking 73 people throughout the day. Some stayed to sew, others stopped by to drop off finished quilts, and many joined us for bed turning before heading out. Every role played a part in the day’s success. By the end of the day, an impressive total of 255 quilts had been turned in, along with 29 pillowcases, 5 receiving blankets, 2

Not only did we collect 219 quilts at our October Sew Day, but we also gathered 165 other handmade treasures including knit baby hats, festive pillowcases (Halloween and Christmas), stuffed animals, a bag with stuffed dolls inside, Christmas stockings, fun bags, pillows, three Halloween table runners for the Therapeutic Recreation Fall Dance, and even witch hats for the dancers! Our volunteers are truly SEW CREATIVE!
