FIREHOUSE QUILTS

OF COLORADO, INC.

September Sew Day

On September 18, 45 members of Firehouse Quilts gathered at the LDS Church in Lakewood. We thank Bonnie M and her husband for donating their time and effort for again setting up the church space for us! She and her daughter also brought in many bolts of fabric they had found on sale. Members had fun sorting through those and other donated fabric and miscellaneous items.

A total of 114 quilts were turned in, making a total of 1,380 for the year. Also donated were 43 pillowcases, 58 receiving blankets, 25 crocheted blankets, 4 fleece blankets, 6 doll quilts, and 2 tote bags. The Women’s Bean Project, Excaliber, The Place and Florence Crittenton, among other organizations, will benefit from all those donations. So far this year, a total of 746 quilts have been donated to various agencies.

Of special note, nine quilts were set aside for the family of an Arvada fireman killed in an auto accident.
