On March 20, 38 members of Firehouse Quilts met at the LDS Church in Lakewood for a heartwarming Sew Day, bringing together volunteers to create beautiful quilts for those in need. The event was a testament to the community’s spirit of compassion and service.
Throughout the day, dedicated volunteers, armed with colorful fabrics and sewing machines, worked tirelessly to piece together quilts that will provide comfort and warmth to individuals facing challenging circumstances. From homeless shelters to hospitals, these handmade creations will undoubtedly make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who receive them.
There were 150 quilts, 29 pillowcases, 16 bags, 6 Christmas stockings and 8 crocheted afghans turned in. Total quilts turned in for 2024 is 463 with 126 of these already donated to those in need.
