On April 8th there was a fire at the Ivy Crossing Apartments in Denver. There was one death, and 23 units were lost because of the fire. Becky M, who works as the Community Resources Manager for Warren Village at Ivy Crossing, contacted Firehouse Quilts requesting 16 adult quilts.
Warren Village has the vision to move people from poverty toward self-sufficiency. They work with children, parents, and large family units to provide supportive services, after school care and provide activities to the community. Life skill classes, education, and career support are also offered. The fire victims have been receiving free dinners at Ivy Crossing and will receive their quilts soon at a dinner. Most of the victims were relocated in a new apartment, several are staying at hotels and a couple chose to leave the facility.
