On December 5, a group of Firehouse Quilts volunteers delivered 121 quilts, 34 bags, 40 pillowcases and 40 stockings to Shiloh House. Shiloh House representatives, Ryan and Anna, gave a great overview of their mission to offer youth and families support and services to overcome challenges, helping them to enhance their success in the community.
In 1985, Shiloh House was created with one home, 16 boys and 6 staff members. The founders believed the youth deserved a consistent, loving, homelike environment away from family trauma. Today, Shiloh House serves over 1,600 youth (ages 8-18) every year in homes throughout the metro area and in northern Colorado.
In 1987, Shiloh House established an accredited school program equipped to support youth with high emotional needs. This program still exists today, graduating students at the high school level.
In 1990, Shiloh House expanded their work to entire families to help break the cycle. Shiloh House began implementing group and family therapy to create long-term success.
In 2012, the founders saw a need for youth aging out of the foster care system. Many of these young adults lack a support system to help them enter adulthood. Shiloh House began offering life skills coaching to those in need up to age 26.
Whether it is through residential services, parenting support, education resources and/or community programs; Shiloh House has helped thousands of youths and families. Ryan and Anna said our donated items are distributed among the various homes and youth to help the homes feel like "home."
