Special Deliveries to Marshall Fire Victims

Updated: Jul 18, 2023

After the Marshall fire, Firehouse Quilts members learned about victims who lost their homes and all their possessions.  Karen, who is a member of FHQ, heard from her brother that three of his neighbors and friends in Louisville were in need of quilts.  Karen personally chose quilts for the parents and their children and delivered them to her brother so he could give them to the families.

Jayne, who is also a FHQ member, learned of a woman who lost her home as well as all of her quilts and quilting supplies.  Jayne picked out a  pink and teal quilt for Susie who was very moved to receive it.

Two women contacted Firehouse Quilts to let us know they picked out their quilts personally at the donation center at Flatirons Crossing.  Genevieve said her quilt was beautiful and to pass her thanks on to the quilt makers.  Julie emailed to let FHQ know she lost about twelve family quilts in the fire dating back three generations.  She said it was wonderful to find one of our quilts and bring it back to her temporary housing.  It made the place feel homier and will be cherished forever.

It’s good to know that our quilts are bringing comfort to many.
