On July 17, forty-three members of Firehouse Quilts of Colorado met at Above & Beyond Sewing and Vacuum for a day of sewing and showing quilts.
Marcie, Mary, and Laurie from the Limb Preservation Foundation visited us and explained how they use our quilts. Since the pandemic, they have transitioned to a virtual organization. While most of their clients are in Colorado, they serve the entire Rocky Mountain Region.
The quilts go in care packages that are sent to the patients. They also provide financial aid and counseling. As a special treat, they brought cookies and presented a quilt with photos of patients receiving the quilts, along with comments they made about them.
This sew day there were 164 quilts turned in, along with 9 pillowcases, 19 bags, 4 crocheted blankets, 6 dolly quilts, and 44 burp cloths. There have been 1,080 quilts turned in this year, with 583 delivered to various organizations.
