On October 31, 2024, Barbara M. delivered 30 quilts to The PLACE where Brian A. was on hand to accept them.
The PLACE is a non profit organization in Colorado Springs that focuses on helping youth have safe housing, find employment and become self sufficient.
The Place is the only licensed youth shelter in Colorado Springs. They have 20 beds and provide meals, clothing and access to healthcare to young people between 15-20 years old. When the individuals are ready to transition to their own living situation, they can select a quilt of their choice to take with them.
They are currently building Launchpad, a 50-unit permanent supportive apartment home community for young adults aged 18-24 that they hope will be ready early next year. Residents commit to a 1-year lease and The PLACE assumes the role of providing secure support and fostering connections among the young adult tenants.
