On November 21, Dale B, Jacque S, Joyce S, and Christie M. met with Carrie from Help and Hope Center to deliver the following items: 47 quilts, 40 receiving blankets/burp cloths, 11 bags, 42 Christmas pillow cases, 36 regular pillow cases, and 25 Christmas stockings.
Help & Hope Center in Castle Rock supports residents in Douglas and Elbert counties that are in financial distress. They provide counseling, housing assistance, food, clothing, household items, utility assistance, and Christmas and birthday gifts. Carrie told us currently there are 40 families a day visiting their food bank.
The Christmas room is a fun place to visit. It was full of toys, games, dolls, footballs, soccer balls, and much more. Carrie told us all of it is donated. Many of the same people donate to the Christmas room every year. Parents may pick two presents for each child. H & H even provides wrapping paper, bags, ribbon, and tape. They also provide batteries if they are needed for the toys.
There is a huge staff of volunteers that work in the thrift store, food bank, and sorting through all the donations received.
