Denver CASA Representative Visits February Sew Day

On February 21, 55 members of Firehouse Quilts attended the sew day making it a packed and busy day at Above and Beyond.

Rachael F, the volunteer coordinator for CASA Denver stopped in to thank the membership for the beautiful quilts, stockings, and pillowcases they received for Christmas. Rachael explained that CASA represents children with an open case in family court. These children are survivors of trauma, loss, abuse, and neglect. The goal is to reunite the children with family or assist them when entering foster care. Rachael stayed for the bed turning and was able to pick out four quilts to take back to the Denver office.

There were 170 quilts turned in, including the last beautiful quilt Jessie V made prior to her passing in January. The total number of quilts turned in so far in 2024 is 313.
