Wrapped in Comfort

Child Safe is celebrating 40 years of helping children who have experienced sexual abuse. Over the years, there have been countless stories about how donated quilts have brought comfort not only to their young clients, but also to their parents and caregivers.

One staff member shared this story:

“A mom who regularly brought her two children in for therapy would often choose the same quilt draped over the back of a chair. While her children were in session, she would snuggle up with it on the bench in the waiting room. Sometimes she read while wrapped in the quilt, and other times she took a nap after long days of working and shuttling her kids from place to place.

When we told her she was welcome to take the quilt home, she was incredibly grateful but said, ‘This is the best quilt in the lobby. If I take it home, I won’t have it when the kids are in session.’ That quilt is still in the lobby today, and she continues to use it while waiting for her children.”

On December 24, 2025, Sara V. delivered 102 quilts to Barbara C. for Child Safe. With the recent opening of a branch office in Loveland, the need for quilts is greater than ever. Child Safe is always deeply thankful for the quilts lovingly made and donated by Firehouse Quilts, which continue to provide warmth, comfort, and a sense of safety to families during some of their most difficult moments.
