On Wednesday, September 17, 53 members of Firehouse Quilts gathered for a fun sew day at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Lakewood. An impressive 185 quilts were turned in that day, bringing our 2025 total to 1,673 quilts so far!
In addition to quilts, members contributed 37 pillowcases, 27 receiving blankets, 8 stuffed toys, 2 dolly quilts, 20 Christmas stockings, 10 bibs, and 6 burp cloths. With these contributions, we are on track for another record-breaking year of donations to our partner agencies.
Many of the items collected were Fall and Halloween themed, and they will help support the Highlands Ranch Therapeutic Recreation group’s October dance. Another highlight of the day was Maureen S.’s demonstration of four different quilt-binding methods, giving members new techniques to use on their future donations.
