Lynda L., Operations Manager of Marisol Home, received 44 quilts, 20 pillowcases, 5 afghans, 5 receiving blankets with burp cloths, and 19 baby hats from Jacque, Cathy, and Christie on March 10.
Marisol Home (a division of Catholic Charities of Denver) provides shelter, basic needs, maternity care, case management, post-shelter support, and child care services for children up to 12 years old, supporting pregnant and single women as they rebuild their lives. The women are required to take classes such as prenatal support, job skills, and finance to gain new skills. After moving into their own homes, they continue to receive support. Recently, six women transitioned to the new Warren Village housing on Alameda.
Currently, there are seven moms and 13 children (including 9-month-old twins) staying there. During our visit, we toured the dining room, classroom, playroom, counseling room, and large family room. It was wonderful to see our quilts on the beds, ready for new residents.
