FHQ Sew Day Collects for SECOR Cares New Baby Program

Updated: Jun 9

The sew day on May 21 was packed with 55 members who brought in 194 quilts. This month FHQ collected quilts and other baby items for a new program at SECOR Cares, so there were 27 newborn sized quilts included in the 194. The program is called Newborn Baby Bags, and they will be handed out to SECOR clients who have recently given birth. Other items that were turned in for this program were receiving blankets, bibs, burp cloths, afghans, stuffed toy bunnies, and baby books.

Additionally, members turned in 78 pillowcases and 17 cloth bags that will be going to other agencies in the future.

When a special request is made by the agencies we serve, the Firehouse Quilts ladies are always generous in supplying the items that are needed.

The total number of quilts that have been donated in 2025 is now 516.
