Cathy, Christie, Jacque, and Karen traveled to Idaho Springs on February 2 to meet with Clear Creek Advocates and deliver 18 adult quilts and 40 snuggle quilts.

Clear Creek Advocates is community based rather than connected to a police or social services department, although they work closely with these agencies. They provide 24/7 crisis intervention and support. Services include protection order assistance, legal advocacy and referrals, emergency and long term housing support, financial and relocation assistance, counseling and support group referrals, and awareness, education, and prevention programs.

Most of their funding comes from grants and donations from police departments and businesses. In December, 140 children were treated to toys, pajamas, socks, and other items at their Santa’s Workshop.

We heard from Melissa, Client Advocacy Coordinator, later that week that quilts had already been distributed to several single mothers. One special quilt with teddy bears and floppy ears was given to a pregnant mother who survived a domestic violence situation. Others were delivered to victims who experienced significant property damage and were displaced by a fire. It is so wonderful to hear how our quilts provide comfort to those who need it most.
