On February 19, Firehouse Quilts held a productive Sew Day, bringing together 51 dedicated volunteers for a day of generosity and heartfelt appreciation.
Volunteers turned in an impressive 252 quilts, along with 62 pillowcases, 11 Christmas stockings, 8 crocheted scarves, 9 crocheted blankets, 8 dolly quilts, 11 baby bibs, and 21 receiving blankets with matching bibs.
Adding a special touch, Summer from the Highlands Ranch Therapeutic Recreation Center attended to personally thank the volunteers for their contributions to the program. She also brought thank-you notes from participants of the Halloween dance who had received Firehouse Quilts items. Additionally, she collected quilts, pillowcases, and fabric bags for the upcoming Valentine’s dance.
The day before Sew Day, FHQ Board members met at Above & Beyond Sewing and Vacuum to clean out the fabric cabinets, removing materials that were not suitable for our quilts. The excess fabric was donated to members for personal use, making space for newly donated fabric to be organized and stored.
